Late rally by Lady Hawks tops rival Lady Eagles in Kendall Tournament title contest

Putting together a big fourth quarter rally, Holley bested rival Kendall 26-22 in the championship game of the host Lady Eagles tournament this afternoon.

Able to score just 11 points over the first three quarters, Holley erupted with a 15-4 fourth period scoring edge to claim the win.

Tournament MVP Sam Bates scored 9 of her game high 14 points and Alivia Wolf hit two big threes to lead Holley’s dramatic fourth quarter comeback. Bates’ third basket of the period tied the game at 20-20 and her fourth put the Lady Hawks on top to stay at 22-21. Wolf’s second three, which gave Holley a 25-21 lead, proved to be the game winner.

“We just played tenacious defense,” said Holley Coach Mark Thomas.

Alivia Wolf finished with 6, Zoey Wolf 4 and Leigha Walker 2 for Holley which played with only six players.

Taigan Guerrero led Kendall with 8 points as Lauren Pilon added 7, Stella Kwiatek and Danielle Offhaus 3 and Brooke Rodas and Alea Barrett 1.

Kendall led 7-1 after the first quarter, 11-7 at the half and 18-11 after three quarters.
