Late pins lift Albion past Roy-Hart/Barker

In  sea-saw battle, Albion registered pins in the final two bouts to outlast visiting Roy-Hart/Barker 45-34 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League wrestling match.

Trailing 34-33, Albion regained the lead for good on a quick pin of 1:13 by Bryce Kelly (220).

The Purple Eagles then locked up the victory on an equally quick pin of 1:33 by Cody Wilson (285).

Albion also got off to a fast start taking an 18-6 lead at the outset on a 3-1 advantage in forfeit wins.

Roy-Hart/Barker though answered right back with a major decision win by Trent Choate (126), a third period pin by Josh Haley (132) and a decision win by Tyler Miller (132) to rally into a 19-18 lead and the sea-saw battle was on.

A second period pin by Dayne Aina (145) followed by an overtime decision victory by Chase Carleton (152) put Albion back on top at 27-19.

Roy-Hart/Barker though again answered back with a third period pin by Zack Hill (160) and a decision win by AJ Schafer (170) to regain a slender 28-27 lead.

A forfeit win put Albion back up 33-28 but Roy-Hart/Barker answered back one more time with a second period pin by Karson Grover (195) to regain the lead for the final time.

That set the stage for Albion’s late pin rally as the first period falls by Kelly and Wilson gave the Purple Eagles the win with the sixth lead change of the match.

Albion improves to 3-1 while Roy-Hart/Barker slips to 0-4.

Medina 60, Wilson 30
Pins by Colby Petrie, Noah Skinner, Brandon Boyce and Diego Russell keyed Medina to a 60-30 win in a forfeit filled N-O match at Wilson.

Both teams are now 1-3 in league action.
