Large senior group leads Lady Hawks

Led by a large group of 11 seniors, the Holley girls varsity soccer team is prepping for the rapidly approaching Sept. 4 Genesee Region League soccer home opener against Pembroke.

The Lady Hawks large senior contingent includes goalie Nicole Blackburn, striker Morgan Zona, midfielders Nicole Mauro, Sarah Wharram, Emily Skehan, Lauren Jewell, Emily Kordovich and Emily Pearson along with defenders Monica Merlau, Claudia Passarell and Lexi Reyngoudt.

Zona had three goals and two assists, Mauro two goals and five assists and Jewell three goals and one assist last season. The Lady Hawks returning point getters also include junior Samantha Barniak (two goals, four assists) and sophomore Riley Sanger (two goals, two assists).

“Preseason is going real well,” coach Jill Mann said. “If they continue to work hard we should be solid.”
