Lancers trim Tigers in key G-R contest

A late comeback bid fell just short as Lyndonville dropped a narrow 53-51 decision to host Elba this evening in a key early season Geensee Region League Division 2 game.

Trailing 45-36 early in the final period, Lyndonville rallied to outscore Elba 15-8 down the stretch but the rally came up just short.

Nathan Dillenbeck spearheaded the Tigers late surge with 10 points on a three, a two and five free throws.

Lyndonville also got off to a quick start jumping to to a 13-9 first period lead as Russell Stephens scored 7.

The Tigers maintained a narrow 26-23 lead at the half as Dillenbeck scored 8 in the second period including a pair of three.

However, Elba put together a big 19-10 third period scoring surge to move into a 42-36 lead at the three-quarter mark.

Colton Dillon scored 10 to lead that Lancers uprising.

The Lancers upped the advantage to nine, 45-36, early in the final stanza before the Tigers put together the late rally which fell just short.

Collin O’Halloran scored 6 and Dillon 4 in the decisive final period to help the Lancers claim the narrow win.

Dillon finished with 20 and O’Halloran 10 to lead the way for the Lancers as Jacob Belluscio added 8, Zach Marscell 7, Caleb Scouten 5 and Greyson Huntington 3.

Dillenbeck shared game high honors for the Tigers with 20 as Stephens and Noah Poler both had 10, Nathan Hydock 6, Casey Winiecki 3 and Trenton Muck 2.

Elba is now 3-0 in the league and Lyndonville 1-1.

Cleve Hill 70, Roy-Hart 58

Breaking away from a 47-47 tie at the three-quarter mark, Cleveland Hill outscored host Roy-Hart 23-11 in the decisive fourth quarter to claim a 70-58 non league win.

Cleve Hill also jumped out to leads of 25-9 after one period and 40-24 at the half but Roy-Hart came battling back with a big 23-7 third quarter scoring surge to rally back into the 47-47 tie.

Tom Ragonese led Roy-Hart with 11 as Gavyn Boyle and Aiden Petrie each added 10.
