A lakeshore flood watch has been issued from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 2 p.m. Thursday for Orleans, Niagara and Monroe counties.

“The combination of very high lake levels and a prolonged period of moderate to strong northwest winds will result in lakeshore flooding potential along the south shore of Lake Ontario,” said the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

Lakeshore flooding impacts may increase, especially in bays, inlets, and other low lying areas along the shoreline, the Weather Service said.

“Wave action may produce an increase in shoreline erosion,” the Weather Service said.
