A lakeshore flood watch is in effect for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Orleans, Niagara and Monroe counties.

“The combination of very high lake levels and moderate east-northeast winds will result in greater wave action and an increase in lakeshore flooding on the western portion of Lake Ontario,” according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

Lakeshore flooding may increase, especially in bays, inlets, and other low-lying areas along the shoreline. The wave action will produce an increase in shoreline erosion, the Weather Service said.
