One big scoring inning proved to be just enough to earn Wilson a 5-3 win over Medina this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game at Vets Park.

The Lakemen bunched all of their runs into a big five-run third inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Connor Seeley.

John Bender went the distance on the mound for the Lakemen allowing only 3 hits and striking out 13.

Blanked on no hits through the first four innings Medina got the bases loaded in the fifth on a single by Jared Zinkievich, an error and a walk. A  single by Tyler Ames then plated the Mustangs first run but Bender got out of further trouble by registering 3 straight clutch strikeouts.

Medina’s Jared Zinkievich tries for a sliding catch in centerfield.

Medina’s other two runs came in the seventh on a pair of wild pitches as a single by Brett Riemer and a walk set up the threat.

Wilson improves to 8-5 while Medina finishes the N-O season at 5-9.

The Mustangs next host Holley/Kendall at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a non league game.
