Jumping out to an early 21-0 lead, Lake Shore went on to spoil Albion’s Homecoming celebration by downing the Purple Eagles 28-14 in a B2 Division game this evening.

Touchdown runs of 8 and 5 yards by quarterback Rob Gillette and of 66 yards by Parker Klepfer gave Lake Shore the big lead.

Albion did cut the deficit a bit to 21-6 at the half by scoring on a 3 yard touchdown run by quarterback Blake Preston with 3:10 to go in the second quarter. Cencere Lowe sparked that drive with runs of 16,15 and 10 yards.

Looking to keep the momentum, the Purple Eagles put together a good drive to open the second half as Preston had a 14 yard pass completion to Auston Johnson and Lowe carries of 15 and 14 yards. However, the drive stalled out on downs at the Lake Shore 8.

Lake Shore answered right back with a clinching 92 yard scoring drive capped off by a 2 yard TD run by Gillette upping the lead to 28-6.

Albion did bounce back with a 17 yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion carry by Lowe to cut the deficit to 28-14 with 9:40 to go in the fourth quarter but the Purple Eagles could get no closer. Lowe had a 22 yard run and Preston an 11 yard pass completion to Seth Krenning to highlight the drive.

Albion did get the ball right back in great field possession at the Lake Shore 30 via an interception by John Eible.

However, the Purple Eagles could not capitalize as Lake Shore got the ball right back on the very next play on a fumble recovery.

Lake Shore improves to 4-2 in the division and 4-3 overall while Albion slips to 1-5, 2-5 heading into next Friday’s regular season finale at rival Medina.
