Building up a commanding 4-0 half-time advantage, the host Lady Warriors went on to defeat Medina 5-2 this afternoon in the opening round of the Tonawanda girls soccer tournament.

Hope Balling scored 4 goals to pace Tonawanda which led by as much as 5-0 early in the second half.

Destiny Satkowski scored the 2 Medina goals, both off assists from Martha Gardner.

Wilson rolls in opener
Two-time defending champion Wilson opened its Niagara-Orleans League golf season by defeating rival Newfane 211-267 today at Oak Run.

Jonah Miler took medalist honors with a 39 and Connor Seeley had a 40 to lead the way for Wilson as Nate Fox, Nick Seider and Patrick Seeley all chipped in with rounds of 44.

The loss drops Newfane to 0-2.
