Lady Tigers win Pembroke Tournament
Notching victory No. 10 on the season, Lyndonville edged the host Lady Dragons 6-3 this afternoon in the championship game of the Pembroke Softball Tournament.
Breaking away from a 3-3 deadlock, Lyndonville claimed the title win in dramatic fashion in the seventh inning on a three run home run by Morgan Hungerford. A single by Jess Harling and a walk set up the threat.
Hungerford, Rebekah Hoffee and Katie Marek each had two hits. Hoffee’s hits included a double.
Maddy Boyle earned the win in the circle scattering five hits and striking out six.
Lyndonville advanced to the title contest by blanking Akron 15-0 in the opening round as Boyle hurled a one hitter with two strikeouts.
Boyle, Hoffee and Maddy Gardepe each had three hits for the Lady Tigers as Hailey Wetherbee and Cheyenne Button both added two.
Boyle and Gardepe both banged out two doubles while Hoffee had a triple and Katie Albone a two-run homer. Boyle drove in a total of three runs and Hoffee two.
Alexander 9, 7, Kendall 3, 4
Alexander swept to a doubleheader victory over host Kendall by scores of 9-3 and 7-4 in Genesee Region League action.
Kari Hurlbutt and Olivia Welch had Kendall’s only hits in the opener.
Kendall did have an early 4-2 lead in the second game but Alexander capitalized on five walks for a big five run inning to rally for the win.
Taylor Kingsbury, Sarah Gardner and Kali Haskins had hits for Kendall.
