Lady Tigers top Irish in sectional opener
Top seeded Lyndonville bested visiting No. 8 Notre Dame 7-2 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C3 softball playoffs.
Improving to 19-0, Lyndonville took the lead for good by scoring four runs in the second inning highlighted by a two-run double by Addy Dillenbeck and singles by Brooke Robinson and Lorelei Dillenbeck.
The Lady Tigers later tacked on three big insurance runs in the fifth frame as Bri Krisher had a two-run double and Bella Groves an RBI single.
Winning pitcher Haley Shaffer and Gracie Johnson also both had doubles on the day for the Lady Tigers.
In the circle, Shaffer scattered 6 hits and struck out 4.
Kendall 17, Pavilion 1
In a Class C2 opener, No. 3 seed Kendall defeated No. 6 Pavilion 17-1 as Shelby Kruger and Taigan Guerrero both had 3 hits and Julie Coble 2. Kruger had a double and triple, Guerrero two doubles and Lauren Pilon a triple.
In the circle, Sara Mattle allowed 4 hits and struck out 2.
Kendall next faces Pembroke on Thursday in the semifinals.
