Lady Tigers romp past Bees in sectional tilt
A pair of big early inning scoring bursts powered top seeded Lyndonville to a 17-0 victory over visiting No. 8 Byron-Bergen this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C2 softball playoffs.
Lyndonville broke the game open early by erupting for seven runs in the second inning on a two-run double by Ella Lewis, two-run singles by Brooke Robinson and Gracie Johnson and an RBI sacrifice fly by Lorelei Dillenbeck.
The Lady Tigers then put a firm lock on the run rule victory by exploding for 10 runs in the third inning. A three-run double by Lorelei Dillenbeck highlighted that uprising which also included a double by Addison Dillenbeck, two singles each by Johnson and Lewis and one by Brynn Howell.
Lewis finished with 4 hits, Robinson and Johnson 3 each and winning pitcher Haley Shaffer 2.
In the circle, Shaffer hurled a one hitter with two strikeouts.
Now at 16-1, Lyndonville will next host No. 5 York in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday. York defeated No. 4 Oakfield-Alabama 5-2 in another quarterfinal contest.
Barker 25, Newfane 5
Barker defeated Newfane 25-5 in a Niagara-Orleans League game as Chloe Lee, Natalie Brandel and Lilly Monthony all had multiple hits. Lee’s hits included a two-run first inning home run.
