Lady Tigers romp in sectional opener

All 12 players broke into the scoring column as No. 6 seed Lyndonville romped to a 79-16 win over visiting No. 11 Alfred-Almond this evening in the opening round of the Section V Class C3 girls basketball tournament.

Ella Lewis scored a game high 20 points and Lorelei Dillenbeck, Karlee Rounds and Addison Dillenbeck each had 11 to spearhead the Lyndonville attack. Morgan Austin chipped in with 8, Shelby Boring 5, Haley Shaffer 3 and Ashlee Stephens, Gracie Johnson, Annabelle Follman, Isabella Groves and Peyton McDonald 2 each for the Lady Tigers.

A huge 20-0 scoring run during the first quarter set the tone for the Lady Tigers.

Lewis and Rounds both scored 8, Lorelei Dillenback 5 and Addison Dillenbeck 3 in the decisive opening period which finished with Lyndonville up 24-7.

Keeping the momentum, the Lady Tigers then outpointed the Eagles 21-0 in the second quarter to extend the lead to 45-7 at the half. Lewis tallied 7 and Addison Dillenbecka and Boring 5 each in the period.

Lyndonville led by 49, 62-13, after three quarters.

Improving to 13-8, Lyndonville will next visit No. 3 HAC at 2 p.m. Saturday. HAC is 18-2.

Alfred-Almond finishes the season at 0-16.

In another Class C2 contest, No. 6 Gananda defeated No. 11 Holley 57-22.
