Lady Tigers repeat as Division 2 champions

Scoring in each of the first six innings, Lyndonville defeated visiting Alexander 11-4 this afternoon to repeat as Genesee Region League Division 2 softball champions.

Alecia Hinkson led the Lady Tigers attack with four hits and four runs batted in. On defense, she also had four putouts in left field.

The Lady Tigers defense also turned a pair of key double plays from Cassie Boyce at third base to Stacy Buckland at first in the second and fourth innings.

Lyndonville scored solo runs in each of the first three innings on a double by Hinkson, a sacrifice fly by Lorelei Dillenbeck and a single by Hinkson.

The Lady Tigers then moved out to a 7-1 lead by scoring four times in the fourth on a two-run single by Hinkson, and RBI single by Gracie Johnson and an error.

Lyndonville capped off the win by scoring twice in the fifth on a triple by Dillenbeck and single by Johnson and then twice in the seventh on a two-run single by Chloe Stinson.

Stinson, Dillenbeck and Johnson each had a pair of hits on the day.

Improving to 9-1 in the league and 11-1 overall, Lyndonville next hosts Kendall in a doubleheader on Monday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

In a Niagara-Orleans League makeup game Akron (8-3) defeated Wilson (7-5) 9-2. Akron will next host Medina (8-3) in an N-O season finale on Monday at 4:45 p.m. to determine second place in the final standings.
