Lady Tigers rally late for tourney win

Lady Hornets down Lady Rams in title contest

Rebounding from a 13 point deficit, Lyndonville exploded for 22 points in the final quarter to nip Tonawanda 43-39 this afternoon for third place honors at the Roy-Hart Sports Boosters Tip Off Tournament.

Oakfield-Alabama downed host Roy-Hart 46-33 in the championship game.

Aubrey Lewis, who earned All-Tournament team honors, scored 9 of her 18 points in the decisive final stanza as Lyndonville rebounded from a 34-21 deficit at the three-quarter mark.

Makenzie Muck and Abi Rodriquez both added 7 points on the afternoon for Lyndonville as Anna Lewis had 4, Jasmine Plummer 3 and Miranda Lembcke and Stacy Buckland 2 each.

Aubrey Lewis also had 7 steals and Muck 7 rebounds.

The contest was tied 19-19 at the half but Tonawanda used a 15-2 third period scoring surge to open up what proved to be a big, but brief, lead.

In the championship game, Emma Lindke scored all 13 of her points and Ellie Todd all of her 8, including two threes, in the first half to spark Roy-Hart out to a 23-22 lead at the break.

However, Oakfield-Alabama bounced back to outscore the Lady Rams 10-3 in the third period and 14-9 in the final stanza to claim the win and the title.

Tourney MVP Hannah LaGrou sparked Oakfield-Alabama by scoring 14 points.

Lindke and Skyler Christopher represented Roy-Hart on the All-Tournament team.
