Lady Tigers post win over Notre Dame

Improving to 7-0 in the league and 9-1 overall, Lyndonville posted a key 4-1 victory over visiting Notre Dame in a Genesee Region softball contest this afternoon.
Trailing 1-, Lyndonville pulled even with a run in the second inning on a wild pitch following singles by Hannah Fox and Isabella Groves.
The Lady Tigers then took the lead for good at 3-1 by scoring twice in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Groves and a ground out off the bat of Emma Freas.
Lyndonville tacked on a insurance run in the fifth frame on a sacrifice fly by Brooke Robinson.
Groves and Addison Dillenbeck both had a pair of hits on the afternoon. Dillenbeck’s included a triple.
Arnie Sturtevant picked up the win in the circle allowing 5 hits and striking out 5.
Defensively, the Lady Tigers turned a double play from Brooke Robinson at shortstop to Freas at third base to close the first inning when Notre Dame scored its only run. Rylan Townsend also made a nifty leaping catch at second base to end the third inning.
Lyndonville next hosts Oakfield-Alabama at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Oakfield-Alabama downed Kendall 14-2 in another G-R contest.
Winning pitcher Allison Harkness allowed 4 hits and struck out 5 and also helped herself at the plate by banging out 3 hits and driving in 3 runs.
