Lady Tigers, Lady Hawks post softball wins
Scoring three quick runs in the first inning, Lyndonville went on to shutout visiting Oakfield-Alabama 5-0 in a Genesee Region League softball game this afternoon.
A wild pitch, an RBI single by Hannah Fox and an error plated the three opening inning runs for the Lady Tigers as singles by Alexa Robinson and Brooke Robinson set up the opportunity.
The Lady Tigers added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth inning on a two-run double by Isabella Groves.
Arnie Sturtevant earned the win in the circle allowing 3 hits and striking out 4.
The Lady Tigers also had several big defensive plays. Alexa Robinson in centerfield triggered an early inning double play and later fired a strike to catcher Addison Dillenbeck to get the final out of the game at home. Emma Freas also had a big play at third base.
Lyndonville is now 8-0 in the league and 10-1 overall.
