Lady Tigers, Lady Hawks win playoff openers

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Ella Lewis, shown here driving in for a shot, scored four goals to help Lyndonville/Medina blank Geneva 6-0 at Kendall this evening in the opening round of the Section V Class B1 soccer playoffs.

Lyndonville/Medina made a successful debut in the Section V Class B1 girls soccer playoffs as the No. 8 seed Lady Tigers shutout No. 9 Geneva 6-0 this evening at Kendall.

Lyndonville/Medina built up a 2-0 lead in the first half as Olivia Carter scored on a direct kick and Ella Lewis tallied off an assist from Carter.

Ella Lewis then netted three more goals in the second half, two off assists from her sister Anna and the other from Ashley Howell.

Hannah Hamilton netted the Lady Tigers final goal off an assist from Carter.

Lyndonville/Medina next visits top seeded Hornell on Friday evening.

Class C2
Holley 5 Cuba-Rushford 0
In a Class C2 first round contest No,4 Holley blanked No. 13 Cuba-Rushford 5-0 at Caledonia-Mumford.

Halee Passarell scored three goals for Holley as Rachel Killian and Janne Grasshoff each added one.

Kayleigh Neale had two assists for the Lady Hawks as Killian and Julia Smith each had one.

Selena Austin works the ball up field for Lyndonville/Medina.
