Lady Tigers face busy opening week
Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Getting set to help lead Lyndonville into the up coming softball season is this trio of returnees who earned spots on the Genesee Region League All-Star squad last spring. The trio includes Brooke Robinson, Isabela Groves and Addison Dillenbeck.
Weather permitting the Lyndonville softball squad will get the season off to a fast start in Genesee Region League competition with three games scheduled during this opening week.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Notre Dame on Tuesday and Kendall on Thursday, both at 5 p.m., and then face Oakfield-Alabama at 11 a.m. Saturday in the first round of the Barker Tournament.
Lyndonville, which went 9-4 in G-R action and 10-8 overall last spring, returns a large veteran group including seniors Addison Dillenbeck (Catcher-Outfield) and Emma Freas (Third Base); juniors Rylan Townsend (Outfield/Second Base),Isabella Groves (First Base), Brooke Robinson (Pitcher/Outfield) and Elena Barry (Outfield), sophomore Hannah Fox (Pitcher/Utility) and freshman Alexa Robinson.
Brooke Robinson and Groves both earned G-R All-Star honors last spring and Addison Dillenbeck was an Honorable Mention selection.
The Lady Tigers lineup also includes juniors Lilly Raduns (Second Base/Third Base). Barbara Jary (Outfield). Emily Dill (Outfield) and Annalee Clark (Outfield, freshman Arnie Sturtevant (Pitcher/outfield) who is a transfer from Barker and eighth grader Braelynn Dillenbeck (Pitcher/Outfield).
“I think our bats should be good,” said Coach Joe Moore. “Our defense and pitching has to come through.”
