Lady Tigers earn first G-R soccer victory; Kendall wins in OT; Albion trims Newfane
Lyndonville/Medina snapped a season long Genesee Region League girls soccer losing streak by posting a 2-1 victory over Attica this evening at Vets Park.
Miranda Zelazny scored in the first half for the Lady Tigers off an assist from Kaylee Nesbitt.
Ella Lewis later netted the game winner with just eight minutes to go in the second half off an assist from Zelazny.
Kendall 4, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 2 OT
Kendall rallied from a two goal deficit to outlast host Oakfield-Aalbama/Elba 4-2 in overtime in another G-R contest.
Kendall rallied into a 2-2 tie by scoring twice in the last 13 minutes of the second half. Madison Jacob scored the first and then Hailee Mitchell netted the equalizer on a penalty kick with just four minutes to go.
The Lady Eagles then claimed the victory by scoring twice in the first six minutes of the first overtime period. Jacob scored the first off an assist from Mitchell and then Mitchell tallied off a corner by Brianna Wakefield.
Kendall improves to 9-2 in the league and 12-2 overall.
In another G-R contest, Wheatland-Chili scored twice in the second half to edge past Holley 2-0.
Albion 1, Newfane 0
Albion closed out the Niagara-Orleans League second with a narrow 1-0 win at Newfane.
Claire Squicciarini scored the game’s lone goal for the Purple Eagles in the second half off an assist from Nicolina Creasey.
Kailey Merrill and Lauren Wehlng shared in earning the shutout in goal.
Albion finishes the N-O season at 4-5-1 and Newfane at 2-6-2.

Akron 25-25-25, Medina 13-16-21
Defending champion Akron improved to 8-1 with a 25-13, 25-16 25-21 win over host Medina (1-8) this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.
Madison Kaczmerak had 9 kills and 3 blocks and Elsie Logan 6 aces, 5 kills and 19 assists for Akron.
Devin Griffin had 5 kills for Medina as Ayzha Pitts and Elle Gross each had 3.
Roy-Hart 25-25-25-25, Newfane 13-27-20-15
Roy-Hart improved to 6-3 in N-O competition with a four set 25-13, 25-27, 25-20, 25-20 win over Newfane (2-7).
For the Lady Rams, Marissa Scott had 16 service points, 7 service aces and 6 kills; Samantha Capen 11 service points, 3 aces and 13 setting assists; Maddie Ciemny- 8 points, 5 aces and 6 kills; Ava Brigham- 10 points and 5 aces; Renee Lehman 8 points and 1 ace; Sam Albright 12 kills and Jamie Capen 14 setting assists and 2 kills.
