Lady Rams win tournament opener

Putiting together a big fourth quarter surge, the host Lady Rams rallied to nip Tonawanda 37-36 this evening in the opening round of the Roy-Hart Girls Basketball Tournament.

Down 27-20 at the three-quarter mark, Roy-Hart rallied to score 17 points in the decisive final stanza to advance to Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. champion game against Oakfield-Alabama which downed Holland in the other semi.

Maddie Fry scored 6 points and Alexis Lovewell and Ellie Todd both hit clutch late free throws to help key the Lady Rams final period rally.

Todd finished with a total of 10 points, Meaghan Washington 8, Fry 6 and Ashley Hill 4.

Elba 55, Albion 30
Building up a 34-13 half-time advantage, Elba went on to defeat host Albion 55-30 in the Purple Eagles non league season opener.

Maddie Muehlig scored 19 and Leah Bezon 14 to lead Elba.

Cailtynn Snook scored 14 and Janae Doty 7 for Albion
