Building up an early 5-0 lead, Roy-Hart went on to trim visiting Barker 7-4 this afternoon in a rain soaked Niagara-Orleans League softball opener.

Maddy Glena spearheaded the Roy-Hart attack by driving in a total of five runs with a three-run double in the third inning and RBI singles in both the first and fourth frames.

A triple by Ashley Bower set up the first inning tally while an error, a single by Kayla Brown and a walk loaded the bases to set up the third inning threat.

Roy-Hart shortstop Ashley Bower steps on second base and throws on to first in an attempt to turn a double play. The Barker runner is Destinee Hillman.

Barker thought came battling back to cut the deficit to 6-4 by scoring once in the fifth on a double by Kelsie Engert and three times in the sixth on an RBI doubles by Destinee Hillman and Ann Buffington and an error.

The Lady Raiders then got runners to second and third with two out in the top of the seventh after a walk and a hit by Erika Moeller but Roy-Hart got out of the jam on a game ending fly out to Kayla Brown in left field.

The day’s other scheduled N-O openers were postponed including Newfane at Medina, Wilson at Albion and CSAT at Akron. The Newfane at Medina game is rescheduled for Friday.
