Roy-Hart downs Albion to open N-O girls soccer title defense

Roy-Hart opened defense of its Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer title with a 3-0 win at Albion this afternoon.

Roy-Hart jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half as Kaitlin Mettler scored off an assist from Kaylie Churchill and Maria Trombley scored from Mettler.

Churchill later netted the Lady Rams lone second half goal.

Sophia Santella earned the shutout in goal.

Albion is now 0-2 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart next visits Akron and Albion travels to Newfane on Thursday.

Akron 8, Medina 1
Akron improved to 2-0 in N-O competition with an 8-1 win over visiting Medina which slips to 0-2.

Olivia Novak, Hannah Liss and Abby Gerstung each scored two goals to lead the way for Akron.

Katie Hilobuk scored goal for Medina which next hosts Wilson at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Wilson 7, Newfane 0

Leia Cloy and Addison Elia each had 3 goals and 2 assists to lead Wilson (1-0) to a 7-0 win over rival Newfane (1-1).

Adella Dukes and Brooke Zglinicki each scored a goal as Roy-Hart downed Sacred Heart 2-1 in a non league field hockey game.
