Lady Rams to host season opening tournament

Tuning up for the upcoming Niagara-Orleans League campaign the Roy-Hart girls soccer team will host a season opening tournament this coming weekend.

Friday’s opening round will have Oakfield-Alabama/Elba vs. Cheektowaga at 4:30 p.m. followed by Niagara Falls vs. Roy-Hart. The consolation and championship games will be held on Saturday.

The Lady Rams will then begin N-O competition at Wilson on September 6.

Anchoring the underclassmen dominated Lady Rams lineup is a large group of 10 returnees including senior Rylee Young (Midfield); juniors Hanna Willard (Defender/Midfield), Clara Jones (Defender/Midfield), Mackenzie White (Defender/Midfield), CiCi Santos (Midfield/Forward), Mya Quinn (Midfield/Forward) and Maddy Colley (Defender/Midfield) along with sophomore Kara Choate (Midfield/Forward) and freshmen Reanna Perkins (Goalie) and Nadia White (Midfield/Forward).

Choate, who earned second team N-O All-League honors, had 11 goals and 5 assists.

“We have a strong core,” said Coach Rich Jennings. “They have been working hard and pushing themselves pursuing excellence.”

The Lady Rams graduation losses include first team N-O All-League honorees Maddy Fry (8 goals, 5 assists) and Meghan Washington (4 goals, 6 assists).

August: 30 and 31 Roy-Hart Tournament
September: 6 at Wilson, 4:30 p.m.; 9 – at Barker, 4:30 p.m.; 12 – Newfane, 6:30 p.m.; 16 – at Lockport, 4:30 p.m.; 18 – Akron, 6:45 p.m.; 21 – at Attica, 10 a.m.; 28 – Wilson, 10 a.m.
October: 1 – Barker, 4:30 p.m.; 3 – at Newfane, 4:30 p.m.; 5 – at Albion, 7 p.m.; 9 – at Akron, 4:30 p.m.
