Building up a 3-0 half-time advantage, Roy-Hart went on to open defense of its Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer title by downing visiting Akron 4-0 this evening at Gasport.

Kaitlyn Mettler provided the offensive spark for the Lady Rams in the first half as she had a hand in all three goals.

After playing the first 20 minutes in goal due to an injury, Mettler moved back to her normal frontline position midway through the half and quickly scored two goals within a span of three minutes. The first came off a corner by Nadia White and the second on a penalty kick. Then later in the half she assisted on a goal by Grace Trombley.

Mettler completed her three goal hat trick by scoring the Lady Rams lone second half goal off an assist from White.

Roy-Hart will next face Starpoint in the opening round of the Lockport Tournament on Friday.

Wilson 3, Newfane 2
Wilson bested rival Newfane 3-2 in the other N-O opener as Madeline Schultz, Rian Faery and Emily Phillips each scored a goal and Leia Cloy had 3 assists.

Anna Chunco scored both Newfane goals as Paige Miller and Giselle Brong had the assists.

Grace Trombley, who scored a goal, drives the ball up field for Roy-Hart against Akron defender Ella Liss.
