Lady Rams nip Mustangs with run in final at bat;Purple Eagles earn first N-O win
Pushing across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, Roy-Hart nipped visiting Medina 3-2 this afternoon to stay unbeaten at 3-0 in Niagara-Orleans League softball competition.
Roy-Hart earned the win in the final frame as Maddie Fry singled, stole second and came home on a double by Lexi Lovewell.
Medina had knotted the contest at 2-2 by scoring once in the top of the seventh on a triple by Alisha Scroger.
The late innings sea-saw battle saw Roy-Hart grab a 2-1 lead with a run in the last of the sixth inning as Kayla Brown singled and scored on a double by Maddy Glena.
Brown, who also drove in the Lady Rams first run in the opening inning, had a total of 3 hits and Lovewell 2 while Scroger had 3 for Medina.
Sam Choate pitched the first 6 innings for Roy-Hart allowing 2 hits and striking out 6.
Lovewell came on in the seventh and allowed 1 hit with 1 strieout.
Emily Kams, who plated Medina’s other run with a third inning sacrifice, went the distance in the circle for the Mustangs striking out 10.
Medina is now 2-2 in N-O action.
Albion 6, Wilson 5
Snapping a season opening 4 league game losing streak, Albion nipped host Wilson 6-5 this morning as Natalie DiCureia, Janae Doty and Catherine Wolck each had 2 hits.
Anna Frerichs had 2 hits, including a double and 3 RBIs for Wilson (1-2) as Jen Darlak and Madeline Mocarski also each had a pair of hits.
