Lady Rams edge Purple Eagles to clinch at least a tie for the N-O softball title
Clinching at least a tie for the league title, Roy-Hart nipped host Albion 8-7 in a key Niagara-Orleans softball game this evening.
The N-O title is the first since 2022 and the fourth in the last seven seasons for Roy-Hart which has now won 10 straight league games to improve to 10-1.
The Lady Rams will close out the N-O season on Monday against defending champion Barker which is now at 8-2 after shutting out Medina 12-0 this afternoon.
Roy-Hart can claim outright possession of the N-O title by scoring a win over Barker. Barker needs wins over both Roy-Hart and Wilson in a make-up game on Wednesday to claim a share of the title. Roy-Hart nipped Barker 2-1 in their earlier season meeting at Barker.
A five run fifth inning, which gave Roy-Hart an 8-3 lead, proved decisive for Roy-Hart. That uprising included a triple by Brooke Corser and singles by Hayley Hillburn, Millie Owens and Abby Fox.
Albion did rally for four runs in the seventh inning on a triple by Cami London, a double by Alana Irvine and singles by Kenzi Snook and Lux Froman but the comeback bid fell just short.
The loss drops Albion to 6-5 in N-O action.
