Lady Rams down Mustangs to extend lead

Opening up a two game lead, defending champion Roy-Hart posted a 12-1 victory Medina in a key Niagara-Orleans League softball game this afternoon at Vets Park.
Roy-Hart stays unbeaten in N-O competition at 6-0 with the win while runner-up Medina slips to 4-2.
Mallory Steiner picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Rams scattering 4 hits and striking out 10. She also banged out four hits.
Jamie Bower added 3 hits and Lexie Lovewell, Jayden Townsend and Sam Choate 2 each as the Lady Rams had a total of 16 base raps.
Leading 1-0, Roy-Hart began to pull away by scoring four times with two outs in the third inning on a two-run single by Choate and a two-run error. Singles by Bower, Steiner and Ashley Hill loaded the bases to set up the threat.
The Lady Rams tacked on two runs in the fourth on an RBI triple by Steiner and a fielders choice play off the bat of Hill and one in the fifth on an RBI single by Claire Halstead to make it 8-0.
Roy-Hart capped off the big win with a four run sixth inning uprising on a two-run single by Reanna Perkins, an RBI single by Townsend and a fielders choice play.
Medina’s lone run came in the fifth on an RBI single by Abi Neuman, She had two hits on the day and Morgan Allis had a triple.
Tourney cancelled
The Alexander softball tournament which was to include Lyndonville, Barker and Alden, was washed out.
