Lady Rams cap 14-0 N-O title season
Surviving a last inning scare, Roy-Hart edged past visiting Newfane 8-6 this afternoon to complete a perfect 14-0 Niagara-Orleans League softball championship season.
Limited to just 1 hit through the first six innings and trailing 8-0, Newfane made the finish exciting by rallying for six runs in the top of the seventh. Teagan Volpe, Cassidy Geise, Chrissy Schultz, Brooke Horning and Gabby Sinnott all had RBI singles for Newfane in the wild final frame.
Roy-Hart had jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run homer by Ashley Bower and an RBI single by Rachael Rausch.
The Lady Rams upped the lead to 5-0 on RBI singles by Maddy Glena in the fourth inning and Lexie Lovewell in the fifth.
The Roy-Hart lead jumped to 8-0 in the sixth after an RBI single by Lindsay Yates and a two-run error.
Glena and Maddie Fry both had a total of 3 hits as Yates and Rausch both had 2.
Newfane finishes the N-O season at 9-5.
Akron 16, Albion 8
Two home runs by Abby Stone along with a double and triple by Mattie Klein led Akron to a 16-8 win over host Albion.
Meghan Hurley had 4 hits and Andrea Aman 3 for Albion as Olivia Prest, Natalie DiCureia and Ellen Narburgh each had 2. Hurley’s hits included a home run and Aman’s a triple.
Akron winds up the N-O season at 11-3 and Albion at 3-11.
Barker 11, CSAT 8
Mary Rounds and Sabrina Harris both had 3 hits for Barker as Erika Moeller, Kylie Miller, Kelsie Engert and Courtney Bodine each chipped in with 2 to lead the Barker offense. Engert and Harris each drove in 3 runs and Rounds 2.
Haylee Muzzillo picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Raiders scattering 6 hits and striking out 5.
Barker finishes the N-O campaign at 6-8 and CSAT at 1-13.
