Lady Raiders win tourney opener

Barker bested Rochester School of the Arts 37-27 this evening in the opening round of the Kendall Girls Basketball Tournament.

Improving to 2-0, the Lady Raiders will now face host Kendall in the championship game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kendall had defeated Holley 33-10 in the other semifinal on Wednesday. Holley will take on School of the Arts in the consolation game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Kylie Miller and Lindsey Williams both scored 8 points to lead Barker’s balanced attack. Courtney Bodine added 6, Rebecca Stoloski 5, Haley Brown and Caitlyn Mason 4 and Lydia Dewart 2.

Trailing 8-7 after one quarter, Barker used a 12-4 second period scoring edge to rally into a 19-12 half-time advantage. The Lady Raiders maintained a 27-19 lead at the three-quarter mark.

Roy-Hart Tournament
The Roy-Hart Girls Basketball Tournament will get underway on Friday as Oakfield-Alabama faces Tonawanda at 5 p.m. followed by Lyndonville vs. Roy-Hart at 6:30 p.m.

The consolation and championship games are scheduled for 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday.
