Lady Raiders win sectional opener

Making an early lead hold up, No. 2 seed Barker went on to defeat visiting No. 7 Forestville 4-2 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class D softball playoffs.
Barker built up a 4-0 lead by scoring twice in the first inning on a two-run double by Natalie Brandel and then once in both the second and third innings on RBI singles by Kaylee Stoll and Anna Bowerman. Brandel had a total of three hits on the day.
Peyton Bradley picked up the win in the circle scattering 5 hits and striking out 12.
Forestville scored twice in the sixth inning on a double by Madison Sliwinski.
Improving to 15-5, Barker will next host No. 6 Sherman/Clymer in the semifinals on Wednesday. Sherman/Clymer downed No. 3 West Valley 10-2.
