Lady Raiders upset No. 2 seed

No. 10 seed Barker upset host No. 2 Cassadaga Valley 2-0 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class C softball playoffs.

Barker scored the game’s only two runs in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Kylie Miller and an error. Courtney Bodine also had a key single during the uprising.

In the circle, Erika Moeller hurled her second straight playoff shutout for the Lady Raiders striking out 18 and scattering 3 hits.

Barker will next face No. 6 Chautauqua Lake, a 2-1 victor over No. 3 Portville, in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Class B2
Fredonia 10, Roy-Hart 2
Breaking away from a 2-2 deadlock, top seeded Fredonia erupted for 7 runs in the third inning on a combination of 6 hits, 3 errors and a walk to key a 10-2 victory over visiting No. 5 Roy-Hart in the Class B2 semifinals.

Roy-Hart had tied the game in the top of the third on a two-run single by Kayla Brown who had a pair of hits on the day.

In the other B2 semi No. 3 Eden defeated No. 2 Akron 9-5.
