Lady Raiders rally past Lady Rams

A quick scoring burst at the outset of the final period keyed Barker to a 41-34 victory over host Roy-Hart this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Trailing 27-25, Barker rallied into the lead for good by opening the decisive final stanza with a 9-0 run. A rebound bucket and a three by Lindsey Williams ignited that rally which also included a layup by Caitlyn Mason and a jumper by Haley Brown as the Lady Raiders took a 34-27 advantage.

A three-point play by Emma Lindke pulled Roy-Hart back to within three, 35-32, but Williams answered right back with another big three to up the Barker lead back to six at 38-32.

Two free throws by Mason and one by Brown then closed out the Lady Raiders victory.

Mason finished with a total of 14 points and Williams 13, 8 of which came in the final period,  as Brown netted 7, Emily Annable 6 and Courtney Bodine 1.

Lindke led Roy-Hart with 12 as Ellie Todd added 6, Reilly Albee 5, Ava Bligh, Skyler Christopher and Rachael Rausch 3 and Alyssa Hess 2.

Barker jumped out to a 7-5 first period lead on jumpers by Williams, Mason and Brown.

A three by Albee gave Roy-Hart its first lead at 8-7 to open the second period.

The Lady Rams maintained a 20-14 half-time lead as Lindke, Todd, Christopher and Hess all contributed baskets.

Barker closed to within two, 27-25, at the three-quarter mark as Annable, Brown, Mason and Williams all had tallies.

Keeping the momentum, the Lady Raiders then opened the final period with a key 9-0 run to regain the lead for good.

Barker improves to 3-4 and Roy-Hart slips to 1-6.
