Lady Raiders have youthful softball squad

Underclassmen dominate the lineup for Barker which is scheduled to open the Niagara-Orleans League softball season at Albion on Monday.
Anchoring the Barker lineup is the veteran group of senior Evelyn Bish (outfield), juniors Mia Herman (shortstop), Lilly Monthony (first base) and Aaliyah Wheat (second base/outfield) along with sophomores Anna Bowerman (catcher), Natalie Brandel (pitcher) and Rachel Sutter (outfield).
The Lady Raiders youthful lineup also includes the eighth grade battery of pitcher Peyton Bradley and catcher/infielder Kaylee Stall along with sophomore outfielders Cole Carnes and Petra Bish.
Barker’s graduation losses included shortstop Sydnie Luckman, pitcher Jesslynn Coes, outfielder Sarah Outten and utility player Chloe Lee. Luckman earned first team N-O All-League honors while Lee was a second team honoree and Coen an Honorable Mention selection.
“We lost some key seniors which leaves us with some holes to fill but we have a very promising group coming up,” said Coach Aileen Hinton. “We’re rebuilding a bit but we’re every excited about the season and very hopeful.”
The Lady Raiders wen 3-9 in N-O action last season.
