Moving on top to stay with a third quarter scoring surge, Barker held off a late Roy-Hart comeback to earn a narrow 47-44 win in a Niagara-Orleans League game this evening at Middleport.

Breaking away from a 27-27 tie, Barker put together a 15-8 run to close the third period and take the lead for good by a 42-35 margin. Mia Herman scored 5, Keira Dalton 4 and Anna Bowerman, Cole Carnes and Rachel Sutter 2 each during that stretch.

The Lady Raiders increased the lead to 11, 47-36, midway through the final period on a five point run of points by Herman.

However, Roy-Hart came battling back. The Lady Rams scored the next eight points, including 6 by Kaitlin Mettler and 2 by Juliana Terwilliger, to slice the deficit to 47-44 but could get no closer.

Herman finished with a game high 17 points to lead Barker as Bowerman had 9, Carnes 8, Sutter 6, Dalton 4 and Addison Szafranski 3.

Mettler led Roy-Hart with 10 as Terwilliger added 7 and Alexis Cacciatore, Mckenna Elsenheimer and Madison Dinieri 6 each, Juliana Buscarino 5, Lila Brigham 3 and Ada Livergood 1.

Barker led 13-10 after the first quarter and 22-21 at the half on a late basket by Sutter.

Barker is now 2-3 and Roy-Hart 1-5 in N-O action.

In the other N-O games, front-running Wilson (5-0) downed visiting Medina (1-4) 59-22 and runner-up Akron (4-1) topped Newfane (1-4) 57-33.

Rian Faery took game high honors for Wilson with 25 as Lilah Frerichs added 11 and Peyton McInnis 10.

Rylee VanNostrand scored 9 and Stella Poler and Honesty Hill 5 each for Medina.
