Lady Panthers post win over Mustangs

Beginning a grueling stretch of 8 games in 9 days due to an earlier season Covid-19 related pause, Newfane downed host Medina 42-30 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball make-up contrast.

Hannah Hambruch, Sydney Hnat and Mallory Schultz each scored 7 points to lead Newfane’s balanced attack as Destini Stymus added 6, Allison Clark and Angelina DiTullio 4, Jensen McGhee 3 and Rachel Chunco and Allie Szratter 2.

Faithann Vanderwalker took game high scoring honors for Medina with 12 as Anya Bloom and Lily Carpenter both had 6, Paige Atkins 3, Lyla Lilleby 2 and Anna Cruz Robb 1.

Newfane jumped out to a 14-6 first quarter lead as Hambruch netted 5 and Stymus 4.

The Lady Panthers went on to lead by margins of 30-12 at the half and 37-22 at the three-quarter mark.

Newfane is now 3-2 and Medina 0-9.

The Lady Panthers will now host Medina Thursday in a regularly scheduled contest.
