Contributed Photo – Saturday was an historic day for the Newfane girls cross-country team as the Lady Panthers captured the state Class C championship, the first team state title in the school’s history. With him are the Lady Panthers state meet place finishers including Kim Goerss, Nina Burkhard, Vanessa Burkard, Lydia Chunco, Marina Ersing, Caitlin Clack and Ally Martin. “As a coach it was great to see it all come together,” said Heitzentrater. “Our girls saw the opportunity for success. I give them so much credit because they capitalized on their opportunity. At the biggest stage, they stepped up performed and accomplished the greatest achievement, state champions. ”
