Plagued by turnovers throughout, Kendall dropped a 37-27 decision to host Elba this afternoon in a Genesee Region League girls basketball game.

Emily Reynolds took game high scoring honors with 17 points and Tatiana Draper tallied 11 to lead the way for Elba which improves to 7-4. Madison Howard added 4, Carli Bogue 3 and Leah Bezon and Meaghan Kogut 1 each for the Lady Lancers.

Taylor Rutland scored 9 for Kendall as Taylor ReQua added 6, Maya Rutland 5, Lyndsay Wright 3 and Elizabeth Rath and Daniela Volkman 2 each for the Lady Eagles.

Kendall’s only lead came at 5-2 midway through the first quarter after a three by ReQua and a layup by Rath.

A three by Taylor Rutland kept Kendall even at 10-10 with three minutes to go in the second quarter. However, Elba answered with a layup by Reynolds and a rebound bucket by Howard as the Lady Lancers regained a narrow 16-15 lead at the half.

Elba’s Nicole Boldt blocks a shot attempt by Kendall’s Bailee Nelson.

Elba finally pulled away in the third quarter outscoring Kendall 12-3 to move out to a 10 point, 28-18, lead at the three-quarter mark.

Reynolds scored 7 and Draper 5 to lead that scoring burst by the Lady Eagles.

Kendall’s only score in the period was a three by Taylor Rutland which briefly cut the deficit to three at 21-18.

The closest Kendall could get in the final stanza was six at 30-24 after a three by Maya Rutland and three free throws by Wright. The three was the Lady Eagles only field goal of the period.

Draper scored 6 down the stretch to help the Lady Lancers close out the win.

Kendall, which is now 1-5 in the league and 2-7 overall, hosts RAC on Monday.
