Unable to overcome a 12 minute field goal scoring drought at the outset, Lyndonville dropped a 63-34 decision to visiting Oakfield-Alabama this evening in a Genesee Region League girls basketball game.

Makayla Hilchey scored 13, Tori Mandel 11 and Shelby Carlsen 10 to lead Oakfield-Alabama’s balanced attack as Lakin Woodward added 8, Kylie Schlagenhauf and Lauren Reding 7, Danica Porter 5 and Kelsey Schlagenhauf 2.

Ella Lewis led Lyndonville with 13 as Alecia Hinkson and Savannah Poler both added 6, Faith Chaffee 5, Anna Lewis 3 and Miranda Lembcke 1.

Taking advantage of Lyndonville’s early field goal scoring drought Oakfield-Alabama jumped out to a 13-2 first period lead and increased its advantage to 19-2 midway through the second quarter. Six different players contributed to the Lady Hornets scoring in the first period and five in the second.

Anna Lewis finally ended Lyndonville’s drought when she scored on a layup with four minutes to go in the second quarter.

The Lady Hornets led by 20, 29-9, at the half and by 30, 47-17, at the three-quarter mark.
