Improving to 17-2, Oakfield-Alabama posted a 52-30 victory over visiting Kendall this afternoon in a Genesee Region League girls basketball game.

Brianna Smith led Oakfield-Alabama’s balanced attack with 14 points as Makayla Hilchey added 9, Kylie Schlagenhauf and Lauren Reding 7, Lakin Woodward 5, Tori Mandel and Danica Porter 4 and Shelby Carlsen 2.

Lizzie Sutphen scored 10 and Taylor ReQua 8 to pace Kendall as Lyndsay Wright added 6, Jenna Regan 4 and Kaitlyn Gregory 2.

Kendall stayed within one at 9-8 midway through the first period after a jumper by Gregory and a layup off a steal by ReQua.

However, O-A answered right back with a 10-2 run to close the period. A three by Woodward ignited that spurt, which also included a pair of baskets by Smith, as the Lady Hornets opened up a 19-10 lead.

The Lady Hornets upped the lead a bit to 13, 27-14, at the half and then to 19, 43-24, at the three-quarter mark capped off by a 12-4 run to close the stanza.

Reding hit a three in each of the middle two periods while Smith tallied 7 in the third period.
