Lady Hawks roll in sectional opener

Scoring in every inning but one, No. 8 Holley romped to a 14-1 victory over visiting No. 9 Marcus Whitman this afternoon in the opening round of the Section V Class B2 softball playoffs.

Madison Papaj had 3 hits and Anna Brasted, Julianna Drewry and Hannah Biedlingmaier 2 each to lead the offense for Holley which next visits top seeded Mynderse on Thursday.

In the circle, Kassandra Norman hurled a 2 hitter with 12 strikeouts for the Lady Hawks.

Holley took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning on a pair of bases loaded walks and quickly doubled the advantage on a two-run double by Brasted in the second frame.

Brasted also had an RBI double in the third inning to highlight a 3 run uprising ignited by a single by Papaj.

The Lady Hawks capped off the win with 5 runs in the sixth inning sparked by a single by Drewry.

Holley’s Madison Papaj comes in to score ahead of a throw to Marcus Whitman catcher Katie Meyer.

Marcus Whitman, which played with only 8 players, scored once in the sixth on 2 hits and an error.

Class C2
Campbell-Savona 12, Kendall 1
No. 6 Campbell-Savona ousted No. 11 Kendall 12-1 in the opening round for the Class C2 playoffs at Geneseo.

Campbell-Savona broke the game open early by scoring five times in the second inning.

Chelsea Wright had 3 hits, including a double, for Kendall.
