Lady Gators oust Mustangs

Leading from wire to wire, No. 9 Allegany-Limestone downed No. 8 Medina 62-41 in the opening round of the Section VI Class B2 girls basketball playoffs this evening at Medina.

Madison Callen scored 20, Elizabeth Giordini 10, Madison Kahn 10 and Amelia Herzog 9 to spark the Lady Gators which led by margins of 22-13 after the first period, 36-24 at the half and 56-31 after three quarters.

Rylee VanNostrand took game high honors with 22 to lead Medina as Tatyana Baity added 8, Honesty Hill 4, Nevaeh Moss 3 and Stella Poler and Chloe Anelli 2 each.

Medina finishes the season at 6-14 while Allegany-Limestone advances to a Friday meeting with top seeded Eden with a 5-16 record.

Iroquois 95, Albion 28
No. 10 Iroquois bested visiting No. 7 Albion in a Class B1 opener.

Skoi Sanders Smith and Madison Hughson both scored 9 and Taylor LeFrois 8 for Albion which trailed 61-16 at the half.

Roy-Hart 40, Health Sciences 24
Leading by a narrow 26-24 margin, No. 12 Roy-Hart outscored host No. 5 Health Sciences 14-0 in the final period to earn a 40-24 B2 victory.

Lila Brigham scored 12, Alexis Cacciatore 10, Kaitlin Mettler 7, Makenzie Elsenheimer 4, Juliana Buscarino 4, Juliana Terwilliger 2 and Ada Livergood 1 for the Lady Rams.

Roy-Hart will next visit Niagara-Orleans League foe No. 4 seed Akron on Friday.

In another B2 contest, No. 11 Salamanca defeated No. 6 Newfane 49-16.
