Lady Bulldogs top Akron to open title defense

Barker opened defense of its Niagara-Orleans League softball championship by downing host Akron 17-6 this evening.

Trailing 6-4, Barker rallied into the lead for good by erupting for seven runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a three-run double by Peyton Bradley and RBI singles by Missy Otten and Kaylee Stoll for a 11-6 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs upped the advantage to 14-6 with three runs in the sixth as Bradley had another two-run double.

Bradley finished with 4 hits, Stoll 3 and Elise Monaco and Mady Flint 2 each.

Alexis Salmon had 3 hits for Akron including one in the fourth inning which gave the Lady Tigers their last lead at 6-4.

Wilson 15, Roy-Hart 8
In the other opener Wilson downed host Roy-Hart 15-8.

Peyton May had a single and triple, Abby Fox  a single and a double with 2 RBI and Hayley Hillburn and Millie Owens with 2 singles and 1 RBI each for Roy-Hart.

The Albion at Newfane game was postponed.
