Knight’s hockey game has a bizarre ending
The Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina Wilson/Newfane Knights Club Hockey team had a 11:50 a.m. scheduled home game today against St. Joe’s.
However, at the game time St. Joe’s had not arrived for the game. Upon inquiry, they thought the game time was 1:30 p.m.
As today’s game was Senior Recognition Day, that rite was held for Austin Woodward (Wilson) and Jackson Hauser (Barker) while awaiting St. Joe’s.
The game began with the St. Joe’s players trickling into the arena. They had seven skaters to begin.
At the 14:04 point of the opening period, John Peracciny scored from Woodward for the Knights.
The visitors answered shortly after and the game remained a tie until just 42 seconds left in the period when the visitors took a 2-1 lead. During the opening period, they had assembled their complete roster.
Throughout the second period, no one was able to score, and at the 4:56 point, the game was stopped as the ice time had expired, resulting in the loss for the Knights.
This coming Wednesday, the Knights travel to the Riverside Arena to face Buffalo at 8 p.m., before completing the regular season with games Saturday (at Olean) and Sunday home against Nichols.
