Kenmore tops Medina in field hockey

A quick two goal scoring burst midway through the second half broke open a close game keying Kenmore to a 6-1 victory over Medina at Vets Park this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey contest.

Leading by a narrow 1-0 margin Kenmore pulled away in lighting quick fashion when Emma Botham scored with 19:11 to go in the second half and then Britney Waite tallied just 39 second later at 18:32.

Medina answered right back six minutes later on a goal by Teanna Cardone but the Mustangs could get no closer than 3-1.

Waite had a total of three goals and Botham two for Kenmore which improves to 1-1.

The loss drops Medina to 0-2.

Akron 4, Roy-Hart 0
Molly Jennings had two goals and Abby Stone three assists to lead Akron (1-0) to the 4-0 win over Roy-Hart (0-2).

Sarah Schultz and Ashton Witzleben scored the other Akron goals while Tori Triaga earned the shutout in goal.
