Kendall wins, Holley bows in G-R

It was a good evening on the road for Kendall and a bad one at home for Holley this evening in Genesee Region League boys basketball action.

Kendall defeated host Elba 67-54 while Holley bowed 61-37 to visiting Wheatland-Chili.

Alex Sutphen had 17 points, Mookie Nauden 15 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds, Devin Appleton 14 points and Will Condo 7 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals to lead the way for Kendall

Kendall jumped out to a 20-13 first quarter lead as Sutphen hit four threes in the early going.

The Eagles maintained a 35-23 advantage at the half and Elba could get no closer than seven down the stretch.

Kendall improves to 9-4 and 9-6 overall.

Sparked by back-to-back layups off turnovers, Wheatland-Chili jumped out to a 9-2 lead at the outset over Holley and was never headed.

Rodney Roberts scored 11 of his game high 22 points in the first quarter to spark W-C out to a 20-10 lead.

W-C stretched its advantage to 21, 33-12, at the half and to 31, 53-22, at the the three-quarter mark as the Hawks were plagued by turnovers and cold shooting.

Josh Porter led Holley with 14 points including four threes.

Joey DeFelice added 10 for the Hawks as Ian Penders had 6, John Bower 4 and Chris Balys 3.

The loss drops Holley to 2-10, 3-12.
