Kendall to tipoff sectionals Saturday

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Kendall’s Brandon Miller and his Eagle teammates will host Marion on Saturday to tipoff the Section V basketball tournament.

Postseason boys basketball playoff competition will tipoff on Saturday as No. 15 Kendall hosts No. 18 Marion at 3 p.m. in a Section V Class C2 play-in game.

Kendall brings a 4-15 regular season record into the sectionals while Marion is 0-19.

The winner will visit No. 2 seed Geneseo (15-5) at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the pre- quarterfinals.

In Class D1, No. 3 seed Lyndonville (16-4) will host No. 14 Hammondsport (5-15) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The streaking Tigers bring an 11 game winning streak into the sectionals.

The victor will then face a quarterfinal matchup on February 19 against the winner of the No. 11 Honeoye (9-11) vs. No. 6 C.G. Finney (13-7) game.

In Class B2, No. 10 Holley (2-18) will face No. 7 Rochester Career Mentoring Charter School (8-12) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at C.G. Finney.

The winner will then visit No. 2 Mynderse (16-4) in the quarterfinals on February 19.

Section V girls playoff competition will begin on Wednesday.

In Class C2, No. 9 Kendall (6-14) visits No. 8 Bradford/Dundee (8-11) at 7 p.m.

In Class D1, No. 11 Lyndonville (5-15) travels to No. 6 Arkport (12-8) at 7 p.m.

In Class B2, No. 9 Holley (0-19) visits No. 8 Marcus Whitman (1-17) at 6 p.m.

The pairings for the Section VI boys and girls basketball tournaments are scheduled to be announced on Saturday.
