Kendall sweeps track opener

Kendall swept to a pair of victories over visiting Pembroke and Northstar this afternoon in a season opening track meet.

The Kendall boys defeated Pembroke 88-57 and Northstar 82.5-43.

The Lady Eagles likewise downed Pembroke 78-63 and Northstar 111-38.

Caelan Welch doubled in the 1600 (5:27.2) and 3200 (12.45.1), Justin Russell in the triple jump (31-5.75) and 100 hurdles (:18.3) and Will Condo in the high jump (5-0) and 100 (:12.1) to lead the Kendall boys squad.

Taylor Rutland was a triple winner in the high jump (5-8), 200 (:22.6) and long jump (15-4) for the Lady Eagles. Maya Rutland doubled in the 800 (2:45.1) and 100 (:12.8) and Jaimie Smith in the shot-put (25-3.5) and discus (89-2) as Katie Wright took the 400 hurdles (1:20.9).

Taylor Rutland, Maya Rutland and Smith also teamed up with Taylor ReQua to win the 400 relay (:52.5).

Postponements

This mornings’ rain washed out much of the afternoon’s high school sports schedule including the Holley at Lyndonville, Kendall at Notre Dame, Medina at Barker and Roy-Hart at Albion baseball games and the Wheatland-Chili at Lyndonville, Pembroke at Holley and Barker at Medina softball games.

The Holley at Lyndonville and Medina at Barker baseball games and the Barker at Medina softball contest are all scheduled to be made up Thursday afternoon. The Roy-Hart at Albion baseball game is slated to be made up at noon on Saturday.
