Kendall spikers gain rare win over Notre Dame

Ending a 10 year plus drought, Kendall defeated Notre Dame 25-23, 15-25, 25-22, 25-23 this evening in a Genesee Region League volleyball match.

Lexi Payron had 16 digs, 9 spiking kills and 5 service aces; Chelsea Wright 14 digs, 11 assists and 3 aces; Madison Rath 8 kills and 4 aces and Jenna Regan 5 kills and 4 aces to set the pace for Kendall which had not defeated Notre Dame in over a decade.

“I can’t express how proud I am of the girls for the work they put in tonight,” said Kendall Coach Morgan Engelbert. “They stayed mentally tough through Notre Dame’s runs and capitalized on runs of their own. They never put their heads down and fought as hard as I have ever seen them fight. They have worked so hard and are so deserving of this win.”

Lyndsey Rowland had 10 kills and 2 aces and Julia Streeter 7 kills for Notre Dame.

Kendall improves to 3-0 and Notre Dame slips to 2-1.

Byron-Bergen 25-25-25, Lyndonville 22-11-9
Lauren Burke had 4 aces, 10 assists and 8 kills; Catherine Brumsted 7 assists, 4 kills and 1 ace and Madison Farnsworth 4 aces, 5 kills and 2 digs to lead Byron-Bergen to a straight set G-R win over Lyndonville.

Kennedy Clark had 2 kills, 5 aces and 3 digs; Mercedes Benedict 2 kills and 6 digs and Syler Lear 7 digs for Lyndonville.

Byron-Bergen is now 2-0 in the league and 3-1 overall and Lyndonville 1-2, 1-4.
