Kendall spikers down rival Holley

A big come-from-behind win in the third set capped off Kendall’s 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 victory over rival Holley this evening in a Genesee Region League volleyball match at Holley.

Trailing by as much as 17-8, Kendall battled back to take the decisive third set and the match as a four point run of service points by Jenna Regan (10-13) ignited the comeback. A kill by Kelly Mayes capped off that run.

Another kill followed by two aces, all by Mayes, pulled the Lady Eagles to within two at 20-18.

Kendall then moved on top to stay at 24-21 as Jessica Coble served up points 20-24, a run highlighted by a pair of kills by Regan.

The Lady Eagles then got the winning point on a side out.

Kendall also got off to a quick start taking a 15-10 lead midway through the opening set s Brittney Marks served up points 2-6 and Regan chipped in with three kills.

Holley did rally back into a 22-22 tie as AJ Botello served up points 14-17 and Nicole Mrzywka 21-22.

Kendall though answered the challenge as Autumn Woodward served up the final two points to compete the 25-22 win.

The second set followed a similar pattern as Kendall jumped out to leads of 11-5, 18-10 and 21-12.

Anna Oakley served up points 3-6 and Marks 16-18. Oakley also registered aces for points 20 and 21.  Mayes helped to cap off the 25-16 win as she served points 23-24 registering an ace for 23 and Marks added a kill for 24.

Holley though battled back into the match by building up the 17-8 lead midway through the third set.

Jade Hoffarth served up aces for the first four points to ignite that Lady Hawks rally s Rachael Howard scored points 11-13 (2 aces) and Ava Parr 15-16, both of which were aces.

However, Kendall rebounded to take 17 of the next 22 points to win the set and the match.  Regan and Mayes both hd two kills and Oakley one to highlight that rally which also featured key runs of service points by Regan (10-13) and Coble (20-24).

Regan finished with 8 kills and 6 digs, Marks 4 kills and 2 aces, Mayes 6 kilsl and 3 aces and Harley Faro 9 digs for Kendall.

Hoffarth had 6 aces and 5 digs, Mrzywka 3 kills and 5 digs and Chilton 2 kills and 8 digs for Holley.

Byron-Bergen 25-25-25, Lyndonville 9-20-12
Byron-Bergen improved to 6-1 in the league with a straight set win over visiting Lyndonville as Madison Farnsworth had 8 kills and 3 aces, Abby Vurraro 3 aces and 9 digs and Lexi Vurraro 4 kills and 13 assists.

Hannah Despard had 18 digs and went 10 for 10 from the service line for Lyndonville.
